A Truly Immersive African Dining Experience

House Of Zulu brings you a truly immersive and rich African dining experience, sitting at The King’s Table, and breaking bread with the Head of the village of one of Victoria Falls’ oldest communities. The King has laid out a buffet of authentic traditional Zimbabwean dishes, characterised by intense and well-defined flavours, made using locally sourced ingredients from the village. Enjoy the energetic and vibrant rhythm of the King’s Guard with a display of spectacular traditional entertainment.

The King’s Table not only gives you a real insight into local lives, but also ensures your travel experience makes a genuine difference to local people. This unique dining experience offers the opportunity to connect with the Head of the village and local people that otherwise wouldn’t see the benefits of tourism, and make a positive impact whilst learnimg about the richness of the culture and heritage of some of the original Victoria Falls residents. Finish the evening shopping for souvenirs made by local crafts men & women, in turn supporting traditional handmade arts and crafts.

Join Us For GOOD!

House Of Zulu works closely with Monde Primary School on the school meal programme. Sadly, every day, some students come to school on an empty stomach, which in turn affects their concentration and ability to learn and leads to high absenteeism rates. Currently, 356 children are being fed on the school meal programme daily. However, due to resource constraints, the quality of meals has at times been below par! We believe that the one meal a day served at the school, should be fit to be served to the King!

As such, with the introduction of our newest offering at House Of Zulu, The King’s Table; and working in collaboration with the school, we have embarked on a project to re-plant the school garden so that it can supplement the school meals programme. The goal is to create a self-sustaining garden that provides the school kitchen with fresh and nutritious produce that can be served from farm to plate on the same day.

By joining us at the King’s Table, you will be helping a great deal towards our goal for a sustainable school meal programme at Monde Primary School. For every booking on The King’s Table, 10% of the proceeds go the School Meal Programme, which equates to roughly 10 meals per seat!

What To Expect

The King has laid out a buffet of traditional dishes that speak to the way of life of the villagers of Monde, and Zimbabwe as a whole. On offer is a 4 course traditional dinner that will take you on an exploratory culinary journey, served straight out of “amabhodho” (traditional 3 legged pots).

For the King’s guests, upon arrival, the King’s guard will be on hand to usher the guests into the King’s Banquet Gazebo. You will be offered “umuqele” (ceremonial traditional headgear) and a traditional welcome drink.

Once seated on The King’s Table, what follows is an evening of rich, interactive and cultural entertainment and a history talk from the King Himself, explaining the rich history of the village of Monde.

To end the evening, you will have the opportunity to support local village craftsmen & women through shopping for beautifully handmade souvenirs.
